Lance Letscher

Drawing With Scissors
August 19 – September 23

Press Release

Richard Levy Gallery is pleased to introduce Drawing with Scissors by Lance Letscher.

Drawing with Scissors is an exhibition of Letscher’s enchanting collages which are carefully assembled from aged ephemera.  Vintage materials such as antique ledgers, faded schoolbooks, handwritten letters, and recipe cards become layered fragments in Letscher’s ordered reconstructions. This new group of collages illustrates the artist’s recent move towards the abstract and graphic, with quilt-like creations reminiscent of orbiting gyroscopes and cascading chandelier droplets. Working in the collage tradition described by Henri Matisse as “drawing with scissors,” Letscher’s work is a reverie of line, form, color, and memory.

Lance Letscher is a lifetime resident of Austin, TX.  His work has been exhibited internationally and is in public and private collections across the nation.
