Press Release
Richard Levy Gallery is pleased to present Pieces, an exhibition of prints and paintings by Albuquerque artist Karsten Creightney. In the project room we will be showing five photographs by Sarah Hadley from her series Story Lines.
Karsten Creightney combines hand-printed papers, paint, and found materials to create compositions that are both representational and abstract. He uses flowers as a common motif to symbolize joy and resilience. His signature style includes screen-printed Ben-day dots. Creightney plays with the illusions of surface and depth in his layered artworks to create alternate realities.
Karsten Creightney has exhibited his work at numerous galleries and museums. His work can be found in the collections of the Albuquerque Museum, Cleveland Museum of Art, Detroit Institute of Arts, Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Springfield (MO) Art Museum, among others. He is an Assistant Professor in printmaking at the University of New Mexico and lives in Albuquerque.
