Greg Parker

August 18 – September 15

Press Release

Richard Levy Gallery is pleased present an exhibition of new paintings by Greg Parker. The polished surface comprises 30-40 layers of paint application with pigment and graphite, oil and wax. Each layer is methodically burnished. Parker employs the dynamics of mathematical relationships as a universal familiarity to instill a sense of calm and purity in the viewer. Within this meditative framework, he explores ideas such as the consciousness of staying present, and the flux and flow of collective experience through the geometry of repetition.  Working within the twentieth century tradition of geometric Modernist abstraction, the surfaces are exquisitely crafted and extend over the edges to form a three dimensional object.

Greg Parker received his M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art and currently lives and works in Portland Maine
