Pyrograms
July 9 – August 18

A gray, slightly blurred background features a central black circular area with a reddish and white textured object inside. Large white spots of varying transparency encircle the central area, creating a hazy and abstract effect.

A small rock or piece of debris is floating in a white, foggy environment with a beam of light directed at it from the right side of the image. The background is mostly empty and uniformly bright, contrasting with the object in the center.

An abstract painting features a central dark, circular shape with blurred edges, radiating a lighter halo. White finger-like protrusions with pinkish tips extend from the central shape, creating a symmetrical pattern on a light gray background.

A photo of charred remains in a darkened, possibly burned, area. The object is light brown and irregularly shaped against a dark, blurry background. White light appears to reflect slightly off the object, creating a small highlight.

Richard Levy Gallery is pleased to present Pyrograms, by Glenn Kawabata. The artist exposes photographic paper to heat and light using matches. The images that result from this process are spontaneous and allude to the cosmos, universal enormity and microscopic structure.
