Community Mask Project

Please Join us in Supporting a Healthy Community

A few ways to participate:

#1.
Community (style “D”)
/No Sew Masks
Create your own No Sew Masks for loved ones and to donate for essential businesses and underserved communities. These can be made from heavy cotton T-shirts or other heavy weight cotton materials that you have around your home.

Watch the CDC video to get started

What you need:

Pre-washed Cotton Fabric, Unstained: 15×15 – 20×20 inch square
Rubber bands/hair ties: 2

Donation Instructions:
• Wash all masks in hot water and unscented detergent or white vinegar. Dry on high. No bleach, fabric softener, or dryer sheets.
• Wash your hands for 20 sec before handling the clean masks (to transfer to dryer and to plastic bags)
• Wear a mask while handling clean masks to pack. Place clean masks in a ziploc bag.
• Mark the outside of the ziploc with a permanent marker: quantity and mask type  (e.g. #10-D)

Pack flat in bags in multiples of 10 cloth masks and label with # of masks and marked style “D”. Do not include rubber bands as New Mexico Craft Responders will provide the rubber bands. Email us if you have questions.
NOTE: if you are packing “D” masks, they must be packed in bags of 10 or 20 only and clearly labelled.

Deliver to:
Zendo Coffee (in person only), 413 2nd St SW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87102, 7am – 3pm, daily

#2.
Frontline Workers (style “C”)

Support our health care workers by sewing masks for the medical community. This online tutorial by Stitchology will show you how. Download the pattern and get started. Tie or elastic straps are acceptable. Insert a 3-4 inch pipe cleaner, plastic twist tie or similar object along the top edge to allow the mask to seal over the nose. Questions – call/text Noreen at 505.264.3528.

Donations Instructions:
Label your donation with # of masks and marked style “C”.
