Press Release
Richard Levy Gallery is pleased to present Digital Drawings, a selection of computer drawings by St. Louis-based artist, Andrew Millner. This exhibition is comprised of large digital renderings of trees, cacti and plant life. Through meticulous detail, Millner’s work visually celebrates the unique appearance of nature.
Millner’s work illustrates the relationship between a natural and drawn world. The main focus of his work, plant life, was chosen due to the complex anatomy of its many similar, but unique parts. Millner’s artistic technique involves a traditional process of drawing from life, yet with his laptop utilizing a graphics tablet. This process explores the idea of hand drawn vs. machine made, or rather the marriage of these two methods. The result is poetic and exquisite. A grouping of intricate perennial garden drawings, printed on Japanese paper, will be installed in the project room.
