115,717 Black and White
March 14– April 26

Press Release

Richard Levy Gallery is pleased to present 115,717 Black and White, an exhibition of new paintings and drawings by Teo Gonzalez. The series comprises dots and drops of black and white enamel paint. The organic form of each drop is contained within a grid that fills the surface. The individual drops of pigment are allowed to form and dry at their own pace and therefore each drop is unique. The title of each work includes the number of drops within each painting. The title of the show 115,717 Black and White reflects the total number of dots in on the paintings in the exhibition.

Teo Gonzalez was born in Zaragoza, Spain and now resides in New York City. In 2002 he was an artist in residence at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, and was recently featured on Antiques Roadshow which was filmed during his time in Albuquerque.

A catalog for this 115,717 Black and White is available. These paintings are also being featured in our booth program for ArtChicago 2003.
