Richard Levy Gallery and Bobby Beals Presents… are pleased to present Manjari Sharma and Eric Tillinghast, a thematic exhibition of pool paintings and photographs at Bishop’s Lodge Auberge Resort in Santa Fe. Enjoy a special evening on July 20th  at Bishops Lodge Auberge Resort. This event includes an artist reception from 6–9 pm and an immersive video projection from Manjari Sharma’s series Surface Tension into the pool after dark. Visit the exhibtions, meet the artists and take in a spectacular sunset before reconvening at the pool to experience the projection.

Manjari Sharma’s Surface Tension is a selection of photographic and video works of people swimming underwater. In this body of work figures transform to landscapes, limbs into fins, shapes become amorphous and identities unknowable as new forms emerge. Born and raised in Mumbai, India, Sharma’s practice is inspired by her deep seated interest in ritual and the transitory states of human imagination, history, and transformation. Her projects have been featured in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, CNN World, NPR, Vice, and Forbes India, among others.

Eric Tillinghast’s paintings explore the theme of water isolated as a geometric shape. The artist collects vintage postcards of swimming pools and paints out surrounding details with white acrylic paint and a minuscule paint brush so that the painted area holds the illusion of being the paper. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Albright-Knox Gallery, the John Michael Kohler Art Center in Wisconsin, the Museum of Fine Art in Santa Fe, Portland State University, and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Arizona.
